Founder’s Motivation
Long ago, on this land, stood an enormous grey house full of wonder; and even though my mother insists I exaggerate this story, that’s the beauty in seeing the world through a child’s eyes— there’s magic in everyone, everywhere.
In the 1990s, my sister and I spent countless afternoons visiting our Grandma Mary and (Grand)Aunt Willie Mae at the grey house. And while my mother chatted with them, I vividly recall looking up above the fireplace and seeing rows and rows of antique collectables, exquisite trinkets, and most of all— unique DOLLS.
With some in boxes and some on stands, my Aunt Willie Mae, even then as an elderly woman, loved dolls. During our visit, she would show them to me and point out the intricate lace details, bonnet hats, and beautiful dresses; and then she would ALWAYS slip me a tiny treasure to take home. Today, as an adult, I now know those “tiny treasures” were simply things like shiny costume jewelry, but at the time those little bobbles were indeed, treasures; and my Grandma Mary and Aunt Willie Mae lived in a wonderland of adventure that I was eager to continuously explore again and again.
Founder’s Mission
Just like Aunt Willie Mae— even into adulthood, I’ve continued to chase the concept of imaginative wonder while vividly exploring the magic within all things, seen and unseen, on my journey as a career divination author and artist. And after designing over 150 conceptual visions of respected Afro-positivity in that field, it’s now time to expand my vision and reach an audience often not fully served, our children.
To believe oneself to be a magickal, capable, resilient, and powerful person, it is most helpful to have that vision of oneself instilled when young, as a child. Psychologists agree, positive play is indeed an asset in learning both social skills and instilling social status and desire.
Therefore, with the blossoming of AGC Toys Inc. it is my goal to produce toys and playthings that instill within our Afro children the element of conscious and subconscious balance, responsibility, and pride. I strive to create an imaginative world that will resonate as a mirroring of self positivity, confidence, and love. And finally, with AGC Toys Inc.— I aim to revolutionize how our children view themselves in comparison to their peers and expand their realm of mental possibility to that of an endless capacity.
